Yesterday, myself and two friends took advantage of the perfect fall weather to climb Sacajawea peak in the Eagle Cap Wilderness area. We went up the Thorp Creek route from Hurricane Creek and truly enjoyed amazingly warm weather for this time of the year. Sacajawea is the highest peak in the Eagle Cap Wilderness area and is the 6th highest in Oregon at over 9800 feet. What a fantastic view we had from up there. One of our group also traversed over and summitted the Matterhorn, also a 9800 footer. It is 15+ miles round trip and close to 5000 ft Elevation gain so plan on a full day. Well worth it.
Interesting that there is also a Sacajawea Peak in the Bridger range outside of Bozeman Montana of very similar elevation. It's a nice hike. Maybe someone should try and climb all the Sacajawea Peaks!

There is also a Sacajawea Park in the area I live. Sacajawea was a big part of the Lewis and Clark expedition and her name is found frequently in uses like this.
