It is always a wonder to see new and wild natural wonders in the outdoors. Those things that strike you as alien, too unreal to really be REAL at all. They are, too, the unique. The poses and nuances of nature that you can't really imagine, too much color, too much calm in the storm, too much light and dark to be possessed on the slopes of mountainside, so much that maybe there is expression in the rock and ice, a face of an old man, a pose and posture of a warrior. Something not seen everyday, that if you told others, they would look at you with mock expression. But you have a photo agree.gif. If not, so what, you have a story. What are those things, those effects in nature that you wish to share? A few examples.

The fog on Whitehorse Glacier is fascinating. I'm a huge weather geek, and I've never seen an effect like that before.

Wow, nice shots! I love the filminess in the middle in the Whitehorse shot and how it blends into the cloud wafers in the sky, and the skyfarming shot looks like a modern painting. Walking in the clouds... up.gif Shack's tree looks like it is trying to leap across the chasm! The ice grass shot looks so improbable. up.gif

Those photos are amazing- I love this thread. I'm no photographer, but I couldn't get over the strange and surreal cloud action on Granite Mountain. As we made our way up through the exposed rock areas, the clouds were swept quite suddenly in and out. At the top, we watched as competing winds created a rising pillar with very distinct walls...
Very strange cloud effects.
