very nice!
Had some rather similar experiences in Uganda recentlly. We had a phrase for them. Anytime something went or seemed crazy we just said "T I A". This is Africa! not much you can do but try and enjoy it and not make it any worse.
Thanks for sharing

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

What can I say? Great report and beautiful photos, which capture the essence of the place.
There are a few places in the world which I really want to see: Alaska, Machu Picchu and Zimbabwe (especially Victoria Falls). I'm supremely envious.

Hard to believe it's been 10 years, and once again there's a presidential election and once again there's violence. Hoping for the best for the people of Zimbabwe.

Wow! I missed this somehow the first time around. Wow. Amazing trip report and photos. Parts of it were hard to read. It could have gone so wrong so quickly in the beginning. I am so glad it didn't. Your stories were riveting. I will go back and read it again, like Jo.

Thank you for refreshing my memories. I too got tossed from the raft into the Zambezi two years ago and thought my time on Earth had come to an end. The Batoka Gorge downstream from Victoria Falls that people raft through will become a lake in 10-13 years after completion of the Batoka dam. If you are thinking about rafting the Zambezi do so sooner rather than later. The good news is that people will be allowed to cook with electricity rather than charcoal.

With Robert Mugabe's death, one wonders if Zim can ever overcome the consequences his rule. I hope so.
