Scored a solo Enchantments permit Monday morning in Leavenworth; only two of us there for the drawing. Kind of chilly at the Colchuck/Stewart trailhead, but lovely warm by the time I reached Colchuck Lake. Humped up Advil Pass, er I mean Asgard Pass, chasing the late afternoon sun.
Approaching Asgard Pass Upper Basin from Asgard
It was reasonably windy at Asgard so I guyed the tent out to rocks, which are in very good supply up there. At 1AM the tent went twangggggg; followed by clattering hoofs. A goat tripped over one of the strings. I stuck my head out to check things out and was greeted by the most incredible celestial display I have ever seen. It was unbelievably warm. I laid on a rock for 45 minutes, awed by the stary sky. The sky was as black as black can get, and every star in the universe was above. Wild!
The next morning dawned warm and still.

There's no such thing as a free larch, the price - Asgard Pass. The larch were just turning golden. They'll probably be in peak colors in the next 5 days; but the weather may not be a perfect. It was the warmest I have ever experienced in that area; no wind either. Some clouds rolled in Tuesday noon trying to have an afternoon thunder shower; but just a few drops here and there. The tarns were glass smooth.

We are so fortunate to live near such magical beauty. An incredibly beautiful and memory filled trip. WOW!
