I tried my luck with the weather gods in Teanaway with two goals in mind: (1) to see golden larch, which I hadn't seen since I had never been in Washington in the fall before, and (2) to bag a peak I missed two summers ago when I did Fortune. (1) was an unqualified success (weather gods gaveth), but I only got within 50 ft of (2) (weather gods taketh away). :P
I got a variety of weather: rain on the way to the trailhead, snow near Ingalls Pass, socked in conditions for most of the way to Ingalls Lake, a sudden parting of the clouds that revealed the entire valley and Mt. Stuart, and even a tiny bit of hail on the Ingalls saddle. Luckily, the cloud parting occurred just before I reached Ingalls Lake, where i spent a good hour snapping photos, eating snacks, and chatting with other hikers.
The scramble up to the saddle between Ingalls North and South was covered in a fresh blanket of snow, but it was sticky due to the sun and not particularly steep. Unfortunately, the saddle and the entire west side of Ingalls was frozen solid and still socked in. After checking that every gully up to the summit was covered in ice crystals, I headed back down the way I came. Oh well.

Fantastic photos Jeff
The HDR is very balanced. I've not yet really been satisfied with the HDRs I've done as they seem to move over to the sureal. Perhaps I just am stuck with carrying around my graduated filters still.
Looking forward to heading up to Ingalls this weekend. Weather gives me some hope.

Good choice. I have scrambled up to S. Ingalls when the gullies were a little frozen - not pleasing. That rock is shiny and slick enough by itself.

Sorry to hear you didn't reach the summit, but there's always next time...you definitely made a wise choice. You did have some great lighting to 'deal with' though! Your photos are fantastic.

Nice work. Bugger, got to git my butt up there soon.

Sound judgment. It's a great route, and it melts out early in the season due to the S aspect. It's goes great with a ski approach as soon as the road opens.
Edited to add: I recommend a second rope for the rap.

You are thinking about the North Peak.
You don't need a rope for the South Peak.

You are correct. I stand corrected. I was thinking of the S ridge (5.4) of the main peak.
The S peak is an easy scramble from Fortune or other aspects.

Sorry about not making the summit, but you were able to bring back some awesome shots. Baring some obscene geologic catastrophe, the summit will be there in the future.
