OMG, that is just plain weird, can't say I've ever seen anything like that. Even if it was edible I wouldn't be touching that thing!

Wow, MC, looks like you had a good outing. That bleeding one is just creepy. What did you do with your edible harvest?

I cleaned and trimmed the chanterelles a bit and tomorrow I will turn them into a chowder with chicken and corn (maybe some poblano chilis too).

We saw lots of mushroom hunters (as well as some deer hunters) on our hike today (well, deer hunters on our way to the trailhead). I don't trust myself to know edible vs. non- edible, though!

You can hang out at the mushroom buying tents and learn. It is quite the happening place in the evening.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Wow MHUTCH! I name you KING BOLETE. You win the gloating award.
Make sure you post here in the Spring.
P-n-B, I haven't started the chowder yet but will soon. How was the cheesecake?

Not sure what this means exactly, but I think the phrase would fit over in the "Men only thred, no wimmen" in the Saloon.

A bit of trivia concerning the Amanita Muscaria (from Wikipedia):
"In eastern Siberia, the shaman would consume the mushrooms, and others would drink his urine. This urine, still containing active hallucinogens may actually be more potent than the A. muscaria mushrooms with fewer negative effects, such as sweating and twitching, suggesting that the initial user may act as a screening filter for other components in the mushroom. Among the Koryak, one report held the poor would consume the urine of the wealthy, who could afford to buy the mushrooms."
Those Siberians really knew how to party.

Yes, Amanita muscaria, also known as fly agaric, a little bit will send you a long way, a little more will kill you.
