Leadbetter Point State Park is located at the north end of the Long Beach peninsula. We started our hike at the north parking lot and did a counter clockwise loop. The trail heads north and in a few minutes, emerges on the shore of Willapa Bay.

The trail follows the shoreline for a long half mile, then heads across the point to the ocean. The forested section had many interesting mushrooms. After coming across a large pile of fresh bear scat paranoid.gif , Barb thought it would be good idea if I took point huh.gif .

It is 1 1/4 miles across the point to the ocean. At the coast we took a lunch break, enjoying the views and crashing waves.

The coast was really windy, so it was a little cold. In the forests, it was much warmer and the coats came off.

no, I'll probably take a BD hike on Friday (a day before the big day)

A favorite hike in summer, only making the northern loop: over to the ocean and then north to Leadbetter Point, south along Willapa Bay, around Grass Island and back to the parking area.

Something lost behind the ranges. Lost and waiting for you....... Go and find it. Go!

Lovely place, there for the first time last spring. Water in the woods kept us from making it all the way across from east to west. Still, can't wait to get back. Thanks for sharing the pics and report! up.gif

That is such a neat area. I've never made it through the woods all the way to the beach, due to various combinations of water and mosquitoes, but we've roamed the interesting beaches often. thanks for the TR.
