Rooster Comb - Foothills Loop
I squeezed this short, but scenic snowshoe in between dropping my son off for the bus to Mission Ridge and picking him up. The foothills and mountains around Wenatchee wear the snow well, and the skies were blue with lots of sunshine.

Looks like you made good use of a nice day. Of course you would be more hardcore if you did the loop beginning and ending at your house (it can't be that far ). I have been up saddlerock more times than I can count, but have yet to go the other direction, looks like I'll have to do it now though.

Blue = Go. The East ansd South sides are private property, as is the lower North side, so the NE is your best option. If I can gain a 1000' in a mile snowshoeing, we will call it a workout, but the views were choice between storms.

Hoo-ee! ........ It sure do look different in summer. For some reason, I've always reached the Rooster Comb by coming down the ridge from the southwest, from the Herd farm. Then I've only "discovered" the private property on the north as I left it.
By the way, Wildernessed, neat pics. The snow makes those Wenatchee ridges look quite dramatic.

Really cool place! Is it as accessible most of the winter?

Gentlemen,
Please respect the "No Trespassing" signs on the Lovitt Mining property (All of Rooster comb, road from Dry Gulch down, Cross).
We are trying to keep the cross in the current location but trespassing near the old mine site (Dangerous) is creating a liability problem. We have talked with Dry Gulch LLC & Land trust but so far we have not come up with a solution.
If the current signs are not respected the cross will be removed and the Jeep road will be permanently blocked off.

I was under the impression that the Appleatchee Riders had bought most of that property and was holding it for recreational use under an agreement with the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust.
Good article on acquisition of the Lovitt Mine property.
Unfortunately, in looking at a map of the new property boundaries, I see that the Rooster Comb, itself, as well as the key access routes, are still officially out-of-bounds.
However, Dry Gulch is now open for recreational use. In light of that, I think there should be more concern about trespass onto the Herd farm, a working dairy farm, than there needs to be about traversing the land around the Rooster Comb, an area unused by anyone for decades.

"I was under the impression that the Appleatchee Riders had bought most of that property and was holding it for recreational use under an agreement with the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust."
Dry Gulch LLC bought the land around the old Cannon Mine not the Lovitt Mine. The Lovitt Mining Co owns everything North of the right side red line on the map you posted.
"However, Dry Gulch is now open for recreational use. In light of that, I think there should be more concern about trespass onto the Herd farm, a working dairy farm, than there needs to be about traversing the land around the Rooster Comb, an area unused by anyone for decades."
Are you going to pay the liability insurance? Is it ok for teens to climb the cross if nobody is using it? (that happened) Why do you think the riding club incorporated a new entity to hold the Dry Gulch? liability.
