My pal Kathy and I took advantage of this sunny day and hiked along Alki Beach at high tide. The low winter sun enhanced the colors -- the white boats were so very white and the water was so blue it almost looked fake. Then, we hiked a little piece of the Legacy Trail in West Seattle -- this is where Longfellow Creek can be found and it is being restored for salmon habitat. Volunteers and the park have done marvels with this seldom-visited habitat in West Seattle. We found a number of seldom-visited spots that we'll return to such as the Roxhill Peat Bog (one of the few natural bogs in the region). I decided to stay out longer and stopped once again at Seward Park since the sun was still shining and it almost felt like spring. Golly, it sure was a nice day.
