Ditto from here as well....even with cable modem it is often 10-15 seconds to load a page. Time wasn't any slower actually via dial up the last two days from our cabin either.

Same here - on a T1 at work, and on cable at home. Slow at times, speedy at others. Heavy load, perhaps? I don't know what kind of hosting that nwhikers.net enjoys, but smells like a hosting service problem.

The problem seems to be very intermittent. When it occurs I can see the database queries lined up in the queue - nothing seems to be out of the ordinary, other than the queries taking a long time to execute. My guess is another user on the shared database server is devouring the resources at the time.

Hmmm...not to much problem using my 56k here--maybe the tortoise catches up with the hare sometimes.
