Poo Poo point was a new destination for TNAB this year. A light season opener short enough to do after work before it gets too dark. Orange flagging and a windsock welcomed a group of both veterans and noobs to the starting point at the paraglider landing zone on the West flank of Tiger Mountain. (Dani, Ingunn, JK, Tom, Josh S, Aussie, Yukon222, StormPrincess, Mesahchie, Magnum, Malachai Constant, Lynda, Omega, Dicey, Drew, Runningbird, Moosefish, GeoTom, Ewb, Recon, Intl’ Joe, Run4cache, cmurph, Dan)
In good weather, the gliders would be landing here, but today it was alternating dumping rain and drizzle. The rain tapered back to a few droplets as we began up steep, rock paved switchbacks in the first few hundred feet. Four footed friends made a futile attempt to herd us as the peloton elongated. More aggressive hikers crested the North launch site quickly and had enough time to toss a few snowballs, demonstrate extrordinary feats of canine control and glissade the launch pad before those who prefer to savor their hike reached the top.
Solar panels atop Poo Poo stood in salute of a 2000 foot cloud level, turning their backs to a good view of Lake Sammamish, Issaquah and I-90. We gave a quick shout to Josie for being our web site hero even after an injury. Then, after suiting up to avoid an increasing rain, we ducked back into a darkening forest to re-join our conversations and memories of the 2008 season. A perfect start to what should be a very good year!

Yeah, I was savoring my hike, that's why it took me so long.
Good to see (almost) everyone again! Here's to better weather, and stronger legs!

Well, we would have been there but we had more important things to do . We missed you all and look forward to popping in for a couple this year.

Thank goodness they weren't wiping anything for me, just keeping me company and bringing me drugs & G2!
Sure looks like enthusiasm conquered the weather, what a motivated crew. Thanks for the video of encouragement, it certainly brightened up my day ~Jo

Way to go starting the season before baseball. Sleeping in that weather at the summit, more like day dreaming of dry and warmth... So what was the ratio of hike time to pub time?

Miserable conditions and great company capped off with food and beverages...sounds like the perfect kick-off to the 2009 TNAB season!
Sorry I missed it - see everyone next week.

Glad you had a "good" first opener. I had to watch the kids. Too bad rainy and no views of Rainier.

Did I eat too many carrots?
Ankle surgery on Monday, so no TNABin' for 8-10 weeks! But I may find a way to a post hike pub so I can say hi ~Jo

Sheep and cattle are much simpler to herd. You 2-leggers just won't listen to reason.
I had a fun time and got good and muddy. It was nice to meet a few new buddies (Jack, Luis, Rufus and Wellie) as well as a familiar one (Mazzy). Sorry if I was a bit aggressive when it came to the treats though. Dad tries to tell me there will be more, but I'm not sure if I believe him.
