The Lyrid meteor shower is at its best the next couple of nights. The "shooting stars" can streak across any portion of the sky. The Moon overpowers the meteors for much of the night, but it sets around 3 a.m., leaving a few dark hours to watch the Lyrids.

A buddy of mine said he saw the aurora last night around 10:00 up in the Mt Vernon area. Been having some solar activity so things could be good tonight along with the meteors and planets.

Pick Auroral Activity at the top, then Last Low Lat. Auroral Activity Warning on th left.
