[TNAB]

The late afternoon rain showers faded away in North Bend just before most of the crew met early in the QFC parking lot.  Clearing skies with remnants of clouds on the horizon foretold of a nice sunset.  After a few minutes of juggling people and dogs into a few cars, we drove over to the local member's house near the trailhead.

I think   we had 16 TNAB'ers and 7 dogs on the trail last night - Cmurph, Dan, Ewb, Larry, Mtnsun, Moosefish, OneTwoLaugh, Puzzlr, Recon, Runningbird, Ryan, Schmidt Alti-Dude, Schmidt Alti-Babe, Seattlehikertoo, Yukon222 and Zeus Daddy + the 4 leggers - Athena, Digger, Kiefer, Mazzy, Rowena, Tokul and Zeus.  Whew!  Sorry if I left someone out!

Just warm enough down low to tempt a few to wear shorts (one or two brave souls did) and the blistering pace set by Runningbird and Seattlehikertoo meant everyone was roasting for the lower portion of the climb.  Trail was in surprisingly good condition with only a few patches of mud here and there.  Snows have melted back quite a bit and didn't hit consistent snow until around 3,000'.

Temps cooled as we neared the intersection with the New Trail and an icy wind drifted thru the trees, pulling the heat away from the day and us.  The spread out TNAB'ers regrouped at the typical view spot beneath the Haystack.  Cameras came out as the sun was doing battle with some stubborn clouds on the horizon above Seattle skyline.

A quick group summit shot and we started to head back down.  The sunset though was doing its' best to keep some photogs at the summit as the light kept changing as the sun worked behind a large black cloud.  Freeze or take one more pic?  How about both?   

Quick descent back down the trailhead and we were in the Little Si parking lot before 930pm.  Surprisingly, the gates on that lot and the overflow lot were still open.     Large turnout back at the Pour House for some refreshments and a bonus Return Appearance by Josie (without the hard cast too so the bum ankle is mending nicely)!!

Somehow the cheesy tots just aren't the same when they aren't hard earned by running up a mountain. But the company was fantastic as always, thanks for including me in your post hike celebration. Now if I could only figure out how to have you bring me a live sunset to enjoy... good thing Steve's pictures of it are so fabulous! ~Jo

Nice sunset photo's!!! I should have started my hike up Si a little later yeterday. I was getting snowed on at 4 pm. Oh well. it was still nice to get out of work a liitle early and get on the trail.

Good to see everyone!  I should get by the Pour House more often - it really is a great way to finish off a TNAB.  And it was good to see you again, Jo!

It sure was a wonderful sunset.  I grabbed a couple of pics, but they aren't nearly as nice as those above.  I really wish I'd gotten a shot of the Matrix Man (credit Moosefish, I think, for the apt moniker), with his business casual clothes, flowing black trench coat, bluetooth device, and confident, waterless stride.  He was a man on a mission.  I must have been a sight, slack jawed and staring mindlessly as if at an apparition as he passed with a two finger royalty wave on the approach and again without looking on the departure.  Fascinating.

I enjoyed a nice 30 minute pre-NAB before being caught above the Boulder Garden turn-off, then arrived at the summit just as everyone was leaving.  That I arrived at all was miraculous, I suppose.  After the last two hiker dudes skedaddled, I had the place to myself.  Added some dry clothes, fuel, a light, some traction, and enjoyed a wonderfully lonely post-NAB.
