We did Lake Angeles last weekend and there was some snow over ice over most of the trail up. There was snow at the lake, but not as much as usual for this time of year. We continued up to a ridge above the lake (on the trail to Klahhane (sp?) ridge. The views were great. it was cold (18 F) at the lake, but the sun warmed our souls (soles?). Highly recommeded this time of year. We carried snowshoes, but didn't have to use them.
this hike starts Near the Hart O' the Hills ranger station and the road to the trail head is almost always clear in winter. If you are going to Hurricane ridge and the road is closed (as it too often is), this is a great bail-out hike.
