Actually a relatively peaceful jaunt through nature… mayhem rescheduled – TBA. Clothing optional though… I didn’t get the memo until the top.
With sunny skies from Seattle to Snoqualmie and beyond I was ready to get my tan on! After I sweated my sunscreen off we were still in the trees so I’m still waiting for that summer glow. When there were breaks in the trees we had majestic clear views!
As usual we headed up the trail around 6:00 with the super-human-speedsters leading the way and myself straggling behind The trail was easy to follow and free of snow until we got out of the trees around 3600 ft. There was such little of the hike through snow that gators were probably not necessary but whose who had them were comfy for sure. In about 1 and a half hours most of the group was enjoying the view from the top (I was fashionable late)! In traditional TNAB style we had our summit shindig - snacking and drinking while enjoying the views and good company.
As the sun was setting we made our descent which involved luging down the slope. SLEDDING IN LATE MAY?! That’s right! We caught some more great photo ops as we wound our way down. The trail was slippery with roots so we had to be careful, but that couldn’t slow TNAB down. And of course, the finale at Pour House.
Great hike, great day, great people. Thanks TNAB!

Nice to meet you Kirbinator, and good job on the write-up. Always a fun time being a dog on TNAB and seeing some of my 2 and 4-legged friends. Glad Zeus liked my frisbee too.
Here are some of dad's photos:
Nice write-up Kirbinator.
Some people made the top in 1hour 30 min or less.
Clearly that wasn't me
Great night for Mailbox, perfect temps, no wind and fun company.
Great report Kirbinator!
Lots of great pics, too. The light was wonderful! Lots of blue sky, perfect temps, little wind.
Injunn suggested in jest that maybe the the trail had gotten a bit longer since their last climb. I think the length is unchanged, but the up has grown. Honestly, the trail has improved a lot since last fall. The brutal way is slowly succumbing to the tyranny of the mob boot, with root steps being kicked just a bit deeper, larger steps being side-tracked, and with the occasional piece of engineered remediation, like the new steps in what was a fairly steep and slippery spot. It remains a formidable challenge, but there's definitely mellowing afoot.
Anyhow, my 1.5 hour pre-NAB paid off, allowing me to share some time on top with the gang, which made my rare TNAB summit a real treat.
Thanks, Yet! Btw, I paid homage to the spirit of your much loved brownie goodness by hauling up a box of (rather cheap, I'm afraid) doNABs for the crew. Eaten, of course, but only in sweet honor and remembrance of the real thing methinks.
Since the weather was absolutely summery, JK and I decided to preNAB this one. An hour head start and they still caught up to us.
I haven't been up Mailbox with views (or donuts!) before - oh my! It's really not a bad way to spend a Thursday night...
Danger, Max Wellington!
