The bush in the right foreground wasn't standing out against the trees. Turned out a little better in B&W:

From today, taken in Point State Park, right after a rain squall that had all of us scrambling for cover:
After the storm
This one isn't actually B&W, but when I converted it I couldn't tell the difference, so I left it as is.

gw and jd ... both really nice
jd ... i know this is beyond your control ... and don't take personally .. but i find all the tracks a bit disturbing ... a single track would've made it perfect (i've seen this same thing in some of your snow shots b4) ... but hey this is just my humble opinion ... i'm no expert by any stretch

Silence, I couldn't agree more. That is why it is great to get into a remote area without any other people. We were surprised how many tracks there were on this ski tour, some helped us find our way, but others made it harder to make turns, or get the perfect shot I was looking for.

a friend just sent these to me .. 42 beautiful b & ws shot in the desert ... sometimes i think perhaps this is the eziest subject of all to capture in b & w with the high contrast and interesting lines ... and the simplicity ... and the abstract .. but still i'm awe struck by the nature of it all:
http://izismile.com/2009/06/29/the_beauty_of_the_desert_42_pics.html
i esp love the one with the "slab" of sand sliding down the dune ... the motion of it catches the eye ... course there's motion is most of these ... anyhow thought you all might enjoy
btw you can think snow too .. and of course many of jason h's images come to mind -- his remarkable ability to capture the beauty and the simplicity -- jason you need to head for the desert .. a new playground for you to explore

silence, thanks for the links to all of those wonderful desert images. It really pulls at my Heart strings to search out such a place and pack a load of images in a 8G SD card.

sweet ... seattle fm the space needle just brought back great memories of paris at nite fm the eiffel tower
your farm shot has lots of great texture, contrast and shapes to work with .... but no real focal point ... why don't you experiment with a little cropping .. just to see where it takes you ... and sepia might be a nice hue to use because of the old-timey quality ... just a thought

Silence - thanks for the critique. Nice to get feedback on my photos since I haven't quite developed that photographer's eye. Sometimes I feel I rush my photos without thinking them over a bit first. I did some corrections and here's the result....may have overdone it with the Sepia toning though, have to look at it some more.
