Mt Margaret was a new item on the Thursday menu and proved to have all of the ingredients needed for a great evening hike. Despite the road walk approach, the clear cut has regrown it's appeal and offers views the entire way to the ridge... if you remember to stop huffing & puffing and look over your shoulder. Speed was not my personal goal this evening, so I took the time to clear the path of berries so nobody's fancy hiking shorts would get stained. After the trail junction to Margaret Lake it was a 'have it your way' adventure with some choosing the ridge traverse and the rest ordering their approach straight up. (both had defined boot paths and boundless supplies of berries). Once we reached the peak we gorged ourselves on the views of Rainier, Adams and Stuart as well as lakes as far as the eye could see. We celebrated a beautiful evening with a cheers to Magellan's bday and then overindulged on glazed oatmeal cookies. A summit shot for the post hike TR then everyone scrambled down for more berries. Fortunately we were distracted by the sunset show, leaving space in our tummies for a quick trip to the Pour House where we redefined the word gluttony with pasta, burgers, quesadillas and OF COURSE cheesy tots.
Larry's All Smiles berry bliss pant, pant, pant, here come the TLABS I'm back! Digger laughs at my hesitation Margaret Lake tempts us ewb 'my dogs are barkin' the lykkens I wasn't eating your bday cookies 6pm group is soo fast they blur summit shot courtesy of Wxman tree spirits: myth or reality? wish Yukon were here to take a better pic
Distance & Elevation: 6 mi round trip & 2000 ft elev gain
Trail Info: Continue past the signed junction to Margaret lake and either follow the next boot path along the ridge to the false summit and true summit or continue on the main trail until you see an up shot path directly to the main summit (it was marked by a bandana hanging in a tree when we reached it this evening).
Driving Directions: From Seattle drive east on I-90, take Exit 54 (Hyak). Go left (North) under the freeway and turn right (East) onto Gold Creek Road (NFD 4832). Continue as the road turns to gravel until around mile 4.3 (from the freeway) where you will pass the left turn to the Rocky Run Road (from the Rampart hike) and continue to the right. In another 0.5 miles turn left onto NFD 4934. Drive for another 0.25 miles and the parking lot will be on your left.
Note: NWForest Pass required and this lot should be considered "high risk" for car break ins. The lot was strewn with broken window glass.

It was good to be back out on the mountain once again for another pleasant Thu night. Couldn't have asked for better weather and the color display in the sky wasn't half bad either! Congrats Jo on your return to the TNAB circuit, and Happy Birthday Magellan... your birthday cookies were tasty summit treats.

Did someone say cookies?
Sorry I didn't make it, but dad was too tired to drive and I don't have my license yet. Good to see Z&A's mom back on a real TNAB.

I'm so sorry I missed your comeback, Jo! Now that the hikes are going to get easy I might just have to start going again.
We saw the sunset from the car and were thinking about you lucky bastards. *shaking fist*

Nice to see you back on the TNAB trail. I yelled over to you guys from Rocky Run but no one answered. You guys were long gone by the time we would have showed up there.
