You might want to use your white glove to carefully remove your foot from your mouth and wipe it off. Did you happen to notice that the balanced rock is also on a ridge in the foreground and the summit is in the background? What happens to objects that are further away when you try and compare them to objects that are closer? Any idea? They look bigger. Don't beleive me? Here's a pic I took of Everest and Nuptse. I think that we can arrive at which one is taller with some level of certainty.

+1 to this. As I stated above, during my brief (it's damned exposed up there) visit to Sherpa summit, I noted that the balanced rock looked about the same height. My buddy Ted made a similar comment. No frickin' way it's 10 feet taller.

Based on what I remember, I share your question. I think the summit might be behind the ostensible high point in that pic.

Here's a proposition:
Let's settle this next summer, with two groups of people (one to be on the "main" summit, and another to be on the "balanced rock" summit). We'll compare heights then.
Heck, let's bring a super-long chain of twine/rope and a level, just for kicks!

I like shooting a leveled rifle from the regular summit toward the balanced rock. If it passes over without impact the regular summit is higher. If there is an impact you can measure and compare the distance to determine the height. I think I saw this on mythbusters.
