I'll be posting some pictures as well as information on Backpacking in New Zealand. Logistics and were to go. I spent most of my time following tracks in the South Island along the Te Araroa Pathway. But did get to a few others and two Great Walks. So keep an eye open... -- Jorj

All over the south Island, I was mainly trying to follow a thru hike from Picton in Queen Charolette sound down to the tip of Fiordlands NP. I was able to follow much, but bad weather restricted me from completing the thru hike due to snow and high rivers. In the end it was great. Now looking forward to exploring some hikes and Trans-Alpine Routes here in the PNW... -- Jorj

It looks like for awhile I will be a Mid-week hiker as I was able to land two jobs that work the weekends. I will have a rolling day off on the weekend as time goes on. After heading back to Pratt Lake yesterday, I can see our snow elevation is lacking. The SW side of the basin, had some snow at the base of Pratt Mtn and at the Ollalie Saddle. But was just surprised with patches of bare ground about the wetlands just south of Pratt Lake and the exposed talus field on the East side of the lake. Hopefully after the February warming that usually happens, we get some snow late Feb to April, to keep the mountains and forests from getting too dry! -- Jorj

I'm so jealous! NZ is beautiful! Definitely post some photos when you get a chance so I can drool all over myself uncontrollably.
