That's quite a unique look at the lookout during winter. Nice going

To quote Tazz - I hate you
I looked over there from Pilchuck Saturday and figured someone had to be doing 3 Fingers in that weather. Great trip & photos

Thanks for the report Jim! Super cool to meet you guys and we can't thank you and jeff enough for the digging out the hut door. It was good to ski with you guys in such a super rad area. And I was really excited to ski three fingers off the top. It was my 2nd or 3rd try at that peak in winter, so it was great to finally get it.

Wow, we almost headed up there too. That would have been quite the full house.
Great report!

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, it was a great weekend and a dream fullfilled. I've enjoyed reading about all the other climbs people got in.
Those who commented on the benefit of skis over slowshoes on a trip like this are right. Sliding down in minutes what took hours to climb the day before is like magic. When I read Yana's most excellent Ruth Mt. TR I felt sorry for them trudging down such a great run (more power to em though hauling those huge packs up there!). The problem for those of you contemplating starting up at an advanced age (over 30) is the steep learning curve for the back-country. I was lucky to start downhill skiing as a kid and got many seasons on the lifts to learn. It would take a lot of $ to take it up now, starting with a season pass to an area and dedicating a winter to riding the lifts and heading out on the unpacked runs in all kinds of conditions.
When Jason finally takes some time off of climbing I'm looking forward to some of his pictures being added.

Fantastic! Three Fingers in winter and what a beautiful window (weather) it was. I guess the unplanned meeting up top just proves that great minds think alike...
I want to do this sometime. I need to get out on my skis more.

What an inspired trip, coupled with excellent photographs (as usual) Jim! That upper basin/glacier looks like a wonderland in the winter, though I am not a skier either. Way to go after it!

I am soooo jealous!
Excellent pics and an outragious trip.
Nicely done.
To you, is it movement or is it action, is it contact or just reaction, and you, revolution or just resistance, is this living or just existance? Yeah you, it takes a little more persistence to get up and go the distance.

After seeing this report I remember again why you are one of my favorite northwest photographers! Well done, awesome photos! Say did you end up having to use a rope for the top?
