Drove my wife to Leavenworth for another hair appointment today. This time the reason was not wanting to fight Apple Blossom Festival traffic. But, I will accept almost any reason to go to the mountains. My brother, who lives up the Icicle River, suggested I spend my waiting time hiking up Boundary Butte for a good view of Leavenworth and the Wenatchee River Valley all at once. Turns out he was right. What a nice pleasant two hour hike!

It was windy in Wenatchee today. How was it up in L-worth?

That's a nice area with some great views. Are the balsam root up? I was camping there last week and the wildflowers were just coming up. Did you hike the road or jump on Canyon Crest Trail? I've never been to the bottom, so wondering where it goes down too.

You call some place paradise, kiss it goodbye......Eagles

MC- It was quite windy going up but calmed down for the last part of the hike. GH - Being my first time up there I was not that familiar with the area. I just started where the county road becomes FS road by the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust property. The hike was mostly on old abandoned logging roads. There were some signs put up by the Mt. Home Lodge showing X-country ski trails. Balsam Root is coming out as well as a lot of other flowers. Also, for you bird watchers out there; I saw a couple of Mt. Blue birds. My brother tells me that is quite rare.
