A short stroll around Whistle Lake in Anacortes, with peaceful lakeside gawking spots, and cliffs to relax in the sun, and absorb the quiet was a very nice start to Mother's Day.

Fawn lilies, paintbrush, chocolate lilies, and gardens of moss and ferns decorate the cliffs. AFter this peaceful start we wandered around to Washinton Park, meadows full of wildflowers in several colors along the cliffs .....who needs a a bunch of roses, when so many glorious flowers are in bloom, to admire, and then leave for all the other mothers out there to enjoy.

We even found a cliffside trail we hadn't explored, the twisted windblown juniper add to the oriental garden feel.

Watching seals, (feeding on the tiny schools of fish????)was a nice ending to the day.
