South Twin, Twin Sisters Range (6932’)
via Orsino Creek – West Ridge (Chasing the Cheshire cat (or was it a rabbit:-)
June 20, 2010
Mudslinger (BillB) and fwb2
Short version:
Driest area was predicted the Sisters on Sunday. Rode bikes up the logging road past new activity. Turned up road to South twin. Hiked up to ridge for great scrambling to the sunny summit. More very good rock scrambling and a few good glissades. A five mile downhill ride with mud flying and the Blue Mountain closed… An inhaled meatball sub had to suffice.

Good work--on the mountain and in the office, putting together the TR. Much of your route would be skiable earlier in the season, right? (Or maybe even now, given the slow spring...) N

Nice report and pics. The Twins are unique, do not feel like the rest of the Cascades at all.

On your route picture labeled "looking east from top of moraine....", are you sure the "North Twin" and "South Twin" arrows are pointing the right way? Seems like looking east at that saddle, North Twin should be to the left and South - "our route up to the ridge..." to the right. Maybe I'm mixed up?

I second Stefan on that! Your trip reports are always great, with both terrific pics and super-useful route descriptions. I've got a whole folder full of your illustrated route pictures Thanks much and keep on having so much fun !
