I am new to the area and will be on Mount Baker Wed 23 - Mon 28 June. Can you recommend any lodging near Mount Baker?

Check out Craigslist under vacation rentals and type in Glacier. It's the closest town to Mt Baker and there are many condos and cabins that usually rent during ski season. It's not cheap, but you might be able to negotiate a good deal during the time frame you are looking at. Otherwise, there is no shortage of camping in that area.

There's a new restaurant going up at the old Chandlier spot - called Chair 9. There's a condo / time share place nearby called Snowline. There's an el-cheapo tent / camping place run by the Hovanders that I can't honestly recommend to anybody - simply because this particular bunch of Hovanders isn't at all reputable. Glacier Creek Lodge is gone and demolished now, so that isn't an option. Are you looking for a cabin to rent, or just a place to pop up a tent and stow your stuff? If you're looking for a cabin, http://www.mtbakerlodging.com/ has a bunch of properties. Googling Glacier +lodging will bring up lots of other little cabins and bed&breakfasts.

The Chando was a rocking place from all accounts! I just stopped in from time to time before it burned, but I know a whole lot of folks who used to work there. (Do you happen to remember Franko? Lois? Lisa? Kim? If so, it is a small, small world!)

Kim now dyes her hair red. Lois is still blond, and cute (tho she'll never tell you that). Ted now runs the main county road crew, Ray took his place at Shuksan. cool.gif

We stayed at Skagit River Resort – great breakfast spot with cheap and big lodging – a great place to get your gear sorted. We achieved Baker’s the summit on the morning of the lunar eclipse – a fabulous day to climb. Thanks, all, for your input.
