this one is a little tricky. Three of us can do a quicky weekend one nighter; one more person needs to be home so will day hike with us on the first day out.
We want the first part of the walk to be interesting so the poor day-hiker doesn't do a road walk or boring valley floor twice.
Since this person needs to bail out anyway we'll have two cars so a shuttle makes sense.
It will be a weekend and we'd rather not contribute to the crowds.
We want 15 to 25 miles more of less, depending on how tough the going is. A longer first day than second is a bonus.
I'm thinking maybe drop a car at Bumping Lake or off one of the access trails to American Ridge, then drive back up to Chinook Pass to start the walk and let the day hiker turn around at Dewey Lake or there abouts. We could camp at Cougar lakes or farther on.
Any other/better ideas? All suggestions appreciated!
