What's the most remote place you know of in the Cascades? Or at least that you're willing go share? Just curious to hear about forgotten valleys, hidden basins and trailless tracts of wilderness, as I sit on my porch here in Seattle and watch the rain fall.

Remote by what standards? Furthest away from a road? A trail? Takes longest to get to? Somewhere not lots of people go?

If its some where not a lot of people go, there are lots of places to get away from people. I think you would be surprised how easy it is to get away from the crowds. But does that qualify as remote?

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

I think we should vote for a remote place in each of the wilderness areas, and then vote for the most remote of all. I thought the shores of Moraine Lake might be pretty remote as I doubted many people ate lunch there, but it looks like it gets ski toured.

In the Cascades? On top of a really challenging peak...
But for the average hiker:
I'd say the end of the Suiattle River after crossing the Chocolate. After that I'd say up the Baker River a few miles past the Sulfide Crossing. Who goes there? The upper Downey Creek area past the Bachelor creek turn-off. These would involve some serious 'shwacking.

As in many things it depends on the definition Hard summits are difficult of access but are visited more often than many places. Many climbers try them just because they are hard as per my sig. The pickets are difficult to get to but are quite close to trails such as Watcom Pass, Easy Ridge and Big Beaver (as the crow flies) and are visited quite often. My nomination would be the middle of a bushwack to nowhere with nothing as a destination such as a peak or lake.

That would be "the most remote place worth visiting". Different category.

I know the most remote place in the lower 48 is in the Thorofare Valley (near Yellowstone).
Washington? Mount Spickard?

you really want to get away from people gonna have to head off the beaten path, and by what it seems the I90 corridor all together.
