I drove FS-62 yesterday from Index up over Jack pass and back down Beckler Road, including a side trip up FS-63 to the Quartz Creek Trailhead, and didn't see even a hint of snow.

It was at 5600 feet in the Colchuck area but many hillsides had zero snow even higher up if they are south facing.

Really depends from what I've seen. I was up on Silver Peak yesterday (5000+) and there was only a hint of snow on the south facing slopes. However, two weeks ago on a shaded, north facing slope, I ran into very deep snow at little about 4000 and a recent TR from Blanca Lake indicated the meadows prior to Virgin Lake are still snow covered. Where are you thinking about going?

The snow level north of Mt. Baker is hovering around 4500 feet still.

I decided to go with every other family up to Talapus, which is snow free. But I was thinking of going up from there on a side trip.

one word of warning. Next Saturday is the "official" opening of the Ira Spring (Mason Lake) Trail which will draw a huge crowd. This is NOT the same TH as Talapus, but it is the same highway exit (when the dirt road splits you go to the right for Talapus). What I'm saying is don't be discouraged when you end up behind 20 cars on the freeway off ramp. They're all going to the IST, and you'll be fine. You might get some spillover but it could also work to your advantage where people heading to Talapus, not knowing about the IST event give up at the freeway exit, get back on 90 for plan B (probably Pratt Lake TH one more exit east).

I have never been lost, but I'll admit to being confused for several weeks. - Daniel Boone

The trail to Ingalls Pass in the Teanaway is mostly snow free to about 6000'. The last 1/2 mile or so is mostly under snow. There is at least a few feet left at the 6500' pass. Everything north of the pass is still buried under 2-5 feet of snow.

Three of us went hiking to Heliotrope Ridge on the North side of Mt Baker on Sat. Jun 12th. We made it up to just over 4,700 feet before losing the trail in snow.

Snow at Colchuck only in the shaded rocks. No snow at Washington Pass on Hwy 20. Patchy snow at Rainy Pass on Hwy 20. Heavy patches of snow at Blue Lake TH on Hwy 20. Lots of snow still up in the Mt. Baker area, above maybe 4800 ft.
