I was wondering what I should do with that stack of partial canisters I have sitting in the garage. Maybe I'll wait until there's snow on the ground though.... |
Google "potato cannon" and fiddle with the pipe diameter a bit. Propane cannisters make excellent projectiles. Be really sure about the direction you're lobbing the canisters and stay quick on your feet.
(I might have, ummm, played with this sort of thing once or twice. And we only lit one roof on fire....)
Nicely done, Pat! I might have to steal this idea for the next Solstice GTG.

Ugh...I had a debate about whether it was a noun or adjective...I actually had it right the first time.

heh heh. |
I wouldn't be put off at all - its all yours. FWIW, I've found that white gas in a pint-sized drink cup creates a similar sized flame (though no explosion), a really nice hissing sound and can illumiate several campsites for a duration of no less than 10 seconds.

All helpful suggestions for the well appointed camper.

I think someone should combine two things everyone loves: rockets and bacon.
Wait. What?
Excellent.
A fuxk, why do I not give one?

The bacon rocket idea might be worth exploring in more detail.
Not next to my house, tho. Way, way, away from the house. That falls into the really watch the trajectory category.

I remember sleeping on a roof one night when I saw flames shoot straight up into the sky. It turned out the combat engineers had drained the fuel out of some rockets they disarmed and were throwing it into the burn barrel 20 feet below. Kind of the same concept....
hmmm, fuel canister projectiles. Small Woods Harvest has a pumpkin cannon sitting out on it's front lawn just outside leavenworth... I wonder if they lock it up at night. It has like a 80 lb propane tank for the air canister though. I wonder what kind of PSI I would need for that. My compressor only goes to 150

If you really want a good fire try lighting a Magnesium engine block. Make sure you have all day and a some welding goggles if you want to look in the general vicintiy of the flame.

My friend just removed a couple of old, half filled propane tanks from this boat. Blockbuster or Darwin Award material?

Let's put it this way - I think you'll need something other than Shaggy Boombostic for your musical accompaniment. I'm thinking something like Gwar...

Yes.
And it'll be awfully fun! (find something bigger than a tree to shield behind)

The hardest piece of equipment to obtain for such a venture is the 600 mm lens required for the shoot.
And a fast enough car.

I was looking for this video for a few days from 2010. Always fun to watch plus a classic follow up comment by the Angry Hiker.
