This photo was actually taken by my wife and is not an outdoors shot but I to me it's one of those lucky shots where everything comes together. When our daughter, Flora is starting to get tired she will nuzzle one of her stuffed animals but it only lasts for a couple of seconds. It reminds me of the pure innocence of children and why I'm so glad I became a dad.

Great thread. Thanks for starting it Karen. A feast. We're seeing a bunch of great shots, and I think it gives at least some insight into what the folks posting their photos are caring about in their shooting. Which I find both interesting as well as being fodder for my own shooting. Here's another:
I have some more classic, arguably technically nicer landscape shots, but to be honest, they seem more like so-so versions of shots that someone like Muench or his ilk turns out regularly. This feels more like it expresses something about how I see. Hence, it's a favorite.

I had an easy time narrowing it down to 5 and then a virtually impossible time picking a #1. I ended up with this one but it was like picking between my children:
Best Shot of 2010

This one really speaks to me right now because it's so dark and drab outside right now and this one is gorgeous, green, spring time beauty.

Take risks not to escape life, but to prevent life from escaping I may not have anyone rocking my world right now but, I don't have anyone messing it up either.

Hi Karen2. Yes, excellent photo you posted at the start of this topic. But please tell us where the photo was taken. You did ask that we say something about the photo, which you did, but location, location, location... Which glacier, nearest mountain, GPS lat-long, nearest road, trail...something more detailed about where you were then.

Here's my submission for my best photo of 2010. I'd wish I could say it was a photo taken in the mountains, because that's where I spend most of my time when photographing. But I take the BC ferries between Vancouver and Vancouver Island regularly, and sometimes there are good opportunities for photography. This photo was taken in July near Salt Spring Island from the BC ferry. Wish I was on the sailboat instead of on the huge ferry.
On a hot summer day on the BC Ferry between Vancouver Island and Vancouver, there were many smaller boats, including sailboats like this one.

This beach in Ucluelet B.C. was down a unmarked trail about a half mile off the main road into town. A clerk in a local store told me where to find it. Ucluelet is a beautiful place with lots of trails and shoreline but this was my favorite spot.

I selected this pic for the tremendous display of strength and courage by Sir Buzz in the face of adversity.
Buzz still smiling despite missing a leg. A true inspiration.
