Put in a change so that when you quote a post it removes any quotes in the post you are quoting. This should help reduce the carbon footprint of those with OCQD. Please don't quote posts unless you need to. It really bloats our database. |

Anyway to remove the quote entirely if they quote the entire thing, don't edit it, and the quoted material is the entire preceding post?
That's a common occurrence and completely pointless.
I'd also love to see post merging for people who post 2-3 posts in a row, i.e. if I haven't viewed a thread in awhile, and then I return and read and respond to three different posts in a row, the first post gets posted, and then the next two posts get appended to the previous one as long as no one's posted in between.

I like to select a relevant bit from a post I am replying to and quote just it to clarify what I'm talking about. Especially long rambling threads. Would it be easyfeasible to be able to select text before hitting the quote button and just getting the quote tags around the selection? |

You can always copy the text you want to quote, hit reply, and then paste the quote via the bbcode quote button.
Alternatively, just quote the post and delete the text you don't want to quote. This change should make that easier since it discards any quotes in the post you are quoting, so there is less chance of screwing up by not fully removing the nested quote. This seems to happen a lot and some can't figure out how to fix the broken quote. |

Yep, that's what I've been doing. Other boards (vBulletin) allow quoting of selected text. Thought maybe that was an option here, too. |

Not as easy to implement unless you have quick reply on the same page. It can also be probelmatic converting images, emoticons, links, etc. back to bbcode. Easier to implement if the selection occurs after hitting the quote button. Maybe that's what I'll do to encourage pruning - after hitting the quote button, require the user to select the text to quote so it's easier to quote selected text and more of a PITA to quote the entire post. |

Just have the REPLY button. No QUOTE button. |

Probably not for a while. Just don't have the time I thought I would but if someone with competent programming skills wants to take on the project I'm more than happy to hand it off. |
