I use a 3# coffee can with grippers in an open fire. The size is also just right for my bakepacker. It boils nicely resting in the camp fire. Protect it with a grocery sack for transport. Get a new one when rust shows.
When with a group I bring along my 20" aluminum grill from which I've removed the handles. Cook bacon, eggs, fish, etc. Most useful for pancakes, makes 6 at a time.
I have a folding fish shaped grill that i hold over the fire for a trout I've caught.
My favorite meal is cooked BBqued ribs that are frozen and thawed by the time camp is reached. I've cut them into 1/3ds and place in a plastic bag then in pot with the bakepacker to keep from direct flame. Boil 2 cups water then toss in the Idaho spuds. Great meal along with the plastic wine container.
HOWEVER, I use my packgoats to carry the gear in, I'm old enough not to feel guilty about not packing it in myself.
I also start my fire with the rings I've cut from small bicycle tubes that work well in wet weather.

It's the ole bait & switch thread title routine.

I have a medium-small vitamin bottle that I jam with lint from the dryer, about 16 sq feet of lint , that i use for fire starter fuel. I had never really thought about it until now but its probably not much different than bike tires because of the amount of polyester and synthetic fiber in there.

Here's another good cheap pot!
AntiGravity Gear 3 cup cook pot
A lot of hikers also use the "grease pot" from Walmart / Kmart. It's only a couple bucks and very light.

On the way into Fry's (Renton) today there were people at the door trying to get me to sign a petition to legalize POT!
Made me think of that when I saw this thread.
