Hi all, I have a question for whomever takes the time to read this post. I grew up and spent 95% of my life to date in the Kentucky/Tennessee area. Two years ago, I stumbled upon this website, took up hiking/backpacking, and fell in love with both. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your viewpoint), I am moving back to Tennessee. I never really cared much (or even tried) for hiking the last time I lived in the South, but I fully plan on continuing my adventures back south. That being said, I was curious if anyone was aware of sites such as this that were specific for that region of the country. I've used this site for ideas since the day I took up hiking, and I likely wouldn't have ventured some of the places I did without it. I'm hoping to find something specific to the Southeastern United States that could serve a similar purpose. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thinking in terms of trail info, I would cross reference with other muti-use groups like Backcountry Horsemen & mountain bikers. Also just google the state/national forest or mtn range and wonderful things should pop up!

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but a friend of mine in the DC area just liked their Facebook page, so ... http://southeasternbackpackers.com/

Sadly, right now I'm a poseur. Sigh.

I lived in Ohio for decades, so I was always on the road, and spent a lot of time up and down I-75 doing some trips in Kentucky, more in Tennessee. I didn't find large forums like this, but I used many small Yahoo Groups sites for information, and there are quite a few, with hundreds to thousands of members, many specialize in certain areas like the Red River Gorge, Big South Fork, GSMNP, Shining Rock Wilderness etc...
