Anyone want to climb Ruby Mtn (North Cascades) on Monday? Weather report is looking good and I'm looking to round up a partner or two. Keep in mind there is some pretty serious elevation gain on this one (5600') but the technical rating is fairly low according to the 75 Scrambles book. I plan to take my time (as I always do) shooting pictures on the way up.
I did Ruby back in May and it was a great trip. I would caution you about the write up in the 75 scrambles book though. The boulder field at 2.8 miles from the campground puts you West of Horsetail creek, not East like the map in the book shows. Decide for yourself which way to take. I did a write up on WTA 5-11-02 under the name Smokey Don, if you would like a more detailed description. Have a safe and fun trip.
