I am writing a new book on Aircraft Wrecks Of The Pacific Northwest and am needing some help. In order to continue writing stories for the book, I need to visit sites, receive stories from people who have visited sites , and also acquire photos. The only aircraft sites that we are interested in writing stories on are military wrecks and commercial airliner wrecks. Of particular interest at the moment are the Mt. Constance C-141 wreck, any 1950s military wrecks, and any World War Two military wrecks. If there is anyone out there that could help me with this effort, please email me. I can use a lot of help. Thanks Very Much, Dave

There is a well known B17 crash site with wreckage off of the Tubal Cain Mine trail.

Here is a link to our Tokaloo Rock hike in Mt. Rainier National Park... check out the photos for info on a Marine Memorial at Round Pass for the 32 Marines that died when their plane crashed into the Tahoma Glacier. Photos of our Tokaloo Rock hike.

B24 Liberator up at Mission Ridge ski area. If you ski the bomber bowl run you will pass by the wing and memorial. If you are up to it you can ski the bomber chutes run and ski directly over the top of the wreckage. Or, in the summer you can hike there. View a TR on Mission Ridge B24 here.

This is not as glamorous as a jet nor as historical as a WWII plane, but there was that Army helicopter that crashed on Mt Hood a few years back while attempting to rescue some climbers.

You might find this link useful concerning the C-141 crash in the 1970s, as well as the ~1957 fighter crash near Queets Basin in the Olympics: Air crashes in the Olympics I recall seeing crash debris near the base of the Humes Glacier on the way from Blizzard Pass to Queets Basin back in 1965. The area is so seldom-visited that I assume debris is still there. One of our NWHikers.net members was involved in the search near Mount Constance, as you can probably find by doing a search on NWHikers.net--there's been a fair amount of discussion on that crash here before.

Here is a very comprehensive site for the crash in Tull Canyon, a Search-and-Rescue B-17, rather unique airplane. http://members.peak.org/~mikey/746/index.htm Sounds like quite a toboggan ride down the mountain. Here's another pic of the wreck after it happened. http://www.aerovintage.com/485746.htm

A couple more that come to mind: - Trans-Canada flight 810 that crashed into Slesse Peak -The P-38 that crashed in the vicinity of Skagit Peak in 1942 and was found in 1998
