Four bull elk over in the Teanaway. The big one is a 7 x 7. I couldn't get closer than about 150 yards but they were very cool to see in person.

Friendly marmot licking salt off my leg. After the picture I gently nudged my trekking pole between him and my leg and when he backed off I just stepped away.
Never been this close to a marmot before ...

ChuckM - that is so freakin' cool! In the Skagit valley? I didn't know we had bobcats on this side of the mountains.

Great shots in this thread lately! Gil I love that old shot. Have you seen the Disney movie African Cats, we just watched the DVD a few days ago and it has incredible photography/video with two exciting story lines, one follows a mother Cheetah and her cubs.

Sadly, my wife was like that also, but I wasn't drinking.

The short-eared owls were out cruising at dusk this evening. Hard to get a good shot in the poor light but they don't come out until the sun goes down.

What great pictures of coyote and bobcat!!
Last week, when we were up Mason Lake, we saw a bobcat as the size of a small house cat. Soon as it saw us, it jumped into the snowy woods like a bullet. We were so excited to run into this bobcat that we forgot we had cameras So no animal pictures, just birds ...
