Ohhhh . . . Aahhhhh . . . . eek.gif
There's a Bad Moon Rising!
There's a Bad Moon Rising!
Absolutely stunning! A nice little evening jaunt up the ridge to Kendall Nob to take in a gorgeous full moon. My camera doesn't do it justice - but others got some nice pics that will be posted later. Got to the start (off of I-90 at the Hyak exit, go under the freeway and park where you legally can) a little later than the others (W-O-R-K is a four-letter word! Quite interesting changing your clothes in your car in the garage of your office building.). There was one other guy getting a late start too, who started up with us. No snowshoes needed, but we had them on our packs. Some skiers/snowboarders were coming down as we headed out. It was dark (6:15 p.m.) We guessed that folks were sticking to the road, so we didn't veer off toward the ridge. Good thing, because we ran into Scott and yellow dog #2, Athena. We were moving at a really good clip. Now there were four of us. Staying on the road, we ran into four more of our group and Yellow Dog #3 - Zeus. Here we headed off the road and up the ridge to avoid all of the switchbacks. Scott and his friend had done the route during the weekend, so he knew exactly where to go - and the track was pretty obvious.

From here it got fairly steep and was pretty icy. Glad I had my micro-spikes. Others put on snowshoes, just for traction. Before long, we popped out on a little bench. Then a little more climbing through the trees to reach the Nob.

Absolutely lovely. Don had left earlier than the rest of us and had taken the road up to the Nob. So there were nine of us in all. We had some "refreshments" - well, some had fire water and some had Russian Tea - and the three yellow dogs all got treats, while the two-legged creatures grabbed a bite to eat. It had been quite pleasant and almost balmy lower down, but there was a little breeze and it was cooler at the Nob. We lingered long enough for some pics and star gazing/mountain naming. The moon disappeared into the clouds bawl.gif but it was a lovely evening. Too soon, we headed back down and this time stayed mainly on the ridge until we were much lower down on the road, cutting off several switchbacks. Back to the car about 9:00 p.m. What a fun trip with a bunch of lunatics! (After all, it WAS a full moon!) lol.gif Thanks for a great trip, Barb! up.gif up.gif (Never did put on the snowshoes - that extra weight on the pack is good for training purposes.) More pics to come.

S.D -Love your moon shots! none of mine worked out. Not the "road walk" I expected. Instead a straight up shot that kicked my butt. hockeygrin.gif All worth it though for reaching the knob in no time and seeing the full moon rise above a mystical winter landscape. up.gif up.gif

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

OK, maybe I'm missing something but instead of shooting at ISO 200 why not... ISO Exposure (seconds) 400 10 800 5 1600 2.5 3200 1.25

I was only carrying my iphone and forgot to even grab a self shot. The group shot was the work of Zeusdaddy, maybe he just wanted to laugh at 9 people and their dogs trying to slowly count to 20 Mississippi?
