Where the Mountain casts it's Shadow....by Maria Coffey. Basically it is a book detailing famous Mountaineers and how they died, where they died, and who they left behind. It is so depressing to me that I can only read a bit at a time. Unreal how many have lost their lives chasing summits. It must truly be a sickness to risk your life to attain, especially the ones who have left a wife and small children behind. People who are that selfish {as most great Mountain climbers typically are} really should not have families.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne offers a thoroughly researched historical account of the rise and fall of the Comanche Nation. The author expertly presents the subject material by interweaving events that splash with kaleidoscopic brilliance from the pages. This book was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize and I only put it down to eat meals on a recent long flight. If you enjoy reading books on American westward expansion then welcome to this feast.
