PiB, JimK & I spent a tremendously awful day in Eastern WA yesterday. The drive was horrendously long (a little over 2 hours, some potholes in the road after the pavement ends), the trail was a complete mess (one small drainage problem, a couple of easily stepped over blowdowns, and a few lingering snow patches on the north side of Yellow) and crowded (only one other pair of hikers seen all day), there was nothing to look at the whole way (over 40 species of wildflowers including a rare patch of Tweedy, 360° views on Elbow), the weather was abysmal (blue skies, a few clouds, maybe 70°-ish), and the company was the worst. Now we know why no one ever goes here.
Here's the crappy photos (sorry for the massive photo dump)...

They're not the same flower. Your article references Monkshood while this is a Larkspur. (The article is incorrect in calling it a Larkspur monkshood. Larkspurleaf monkshood would have been correct.)

Wow, what a potpouri of great flowers. BTW the one you have labelled as Alpine collomia is Snow douglasia (Douglasia nivalis) and the pale Larkspur looks to be the cool Delphinium lineapetallum. Also Polemonium elegans and Cutleaf fleabane.
