Josh Lewis and Jacob and I went to Mount Hardy. It's nice that this peak has such a short approach and the bushwhack is less dense when compared to other parts of the state. The south slope is steep enough that you can make fast progress but not steep enough to be annoying. We passed through one little dead-fall where there had been a fire and then the upper slopes were open. There was a lot of talus and scree which makes me think this peak would be more enjoyable with a little snow. The scrambling at the end was short and easy. The summit register showed that we were probably the 7th party since Franklin placed the register in 2009.
Nice little write up Gimpilator. It was a fun trip. Sadly I lost one of my camera's on the mountain. I'm happy I still have my point and shoot lumix panasonic camera. I guess this is what happens when you leave camera's in friends cars, you lose the case for a trip, then you set the camera down on the worst spot on the mountain. The camera I admit was having serious issues so I wasn't too sad about it. But it's still a loss non the less.
