Does anyone have Adobe InDesign on their computer that I could possibly use? I know this is very strange but I am writing a book and need this program to lay out each page (I am self-publishing it) and don't want to spend the $1000 to buy it. I would be willing to compensate a little if needed. Or, are there any other programs that work well for publishing a book that won't cost as much? Any assistance is greatly appreciated

You can download InDesign CS2 from the Adobe site and get a free key. Old but works. 32bit only

you can also download the newest version and use it for a month for free. You can also pay 50 dollars a month (less if you are student) to use all the CS programs.

There is a free open source program called Scribus that might work for you. It's available for Mac/Windows/Linux. Here's a link: http://www.scribus.net/canvas/Scribus

My brother works for a printing/publishing company, he said you don't really need InDesign you can do it in Word as long as the size is correct, he prepares a lot of small quantity books.
