Jessie has been wanting to get me to Cascade Pass for a year, told me how amazing it is in her side of the mountains..we finally made it happen! Ingunn saw a post and wanted in on the action, then she saw a post from Tony he was going and secured our permit for Glacier camp the night before! All things happen for a reason...
I was nervous about all the elevation, i love to hike but tend to stick around the 2,000 3,000 gains and am comfortable with that. So 4,000 scared me a bit.
Views from the parking lot really are good, but they only get better.

Going up to arm..

I felt really good physically till about the top of the arm then I saw what was ahead rocks and loose ground and it was a bit of a slog.

Goal in sight...
Almost there

Home sweet home
I wasn't really prepared for holding down the tent with rocks, we did the best we could, but the wind kept me up 90% of the night even with sleeping pill. Oh well what we do for amazing views...
We hooked up for some laughs and evening vistas and met another camper below Nick, it's fun sharing stories about adventures. Someone sat on some red rocks
I couldn't sleep so up a few times to check out the moon and stars.. glad i did

Up at 4:45 to get the sunrise
Then back to bed so tired...caught this from tent

Morning marmot
Heading down, legs shaking..i hate the down on the loose stuff, but i made it..
2 different grouse and their young,
Then the goats!

Then Tony did his pika call so we could get these shots

My story is the short version with tons of beta, the other's can share their take on it, and add away..I loved the company, no drama, we all had a great time. I pushed myself a bit beyond my comfort level on this one by not planning the whole thing and going with the flow more than my usual. It all paid off! Thank you Jes, Ingunn, & Tony for a trip i will remember forever!
A couple side notes, the flies are BAD all the way in the forest bit me MASS drawing blood. And there is water 1/2 mile below the camp and at the camp several pools of melting snow.. we didn't need to carry water from below.

Really gorgeous shots, HQ. Looks like that SX50 is treating you well.
Should I even ask about Ingunn's red butt?

What a bounty of wildlife, I remember bears and countless marmots on that hike but pika, ptarmigans and goats too! Great trip report!

So glad to see you got up to the great American Alps! The good things are worth pushing hard for...good for you! Some really wonderful pics. I can't even choose a favorite this time.

It was fun running into all of you on my Old Geezer's Day Hike Version...
i.e. I had lunch and took a nap on a nice rock(around 129 in your photos) instead of climbing that last scrabbly bit.

Sort of like running into Dorothy and her entourage on the way to Oz.

Must say it felt like running into Dorothy and her entourage on the way to Oz.
I will let everyone try to match up who would be who.....
I remember you and you and you.....
Since Hikerqueen had initialized the animal spirits in the area, I was lucky to see the goats too.

Way to rise to the challenge! Everyone should be pulled out of their comfort zone now and again. That has happened to me lots of times in the past few years both with my skiing group and by a certain person I hike with. Embrace it as a cathartic experience.
