Natasha and I did part of the High Divide yesterday in the Olympic National Park. Our 18 mile loop started at the Sol Duck trailhead. We hiked up past Heart Lake, over the summit of Bogachiel Peak, down to Deer Lake, down to Sol Duck Falls, and finally out to the parking lot. Our total time was 8.5 hours but I have friends who have done the entire loop in 6 hours. The wildflowers were out in full bloom, especially avalanche lilies and and lupine. We saw a group of 10 goats just west of Bogachiel.

Yeah, I was considering staying in Deception Basin Wednesday night but from the summit of Hal Foss around 2:30pm it looked like some weather was moving in so I hiked out. Looks like I should have stayed and tried for Mystery, looks like it stayed nice!

Aaah, my favorite tree on the way up to Deer Lake. That's a great day trip, I did it many years ago. Nice to see the goats, did any of them come up to you?

Wherever you go, there you are.......

The bugs weren't too bad. There were some by each lake. Actually, the worst was on the summit, so we didn't stay long.

These goats were kind of skittish. They kept their distance.

Wow that's a lot of snow in 7 Lakes Basin! I love hiking the loop...may have to get to the high divide in September, camp at Hoh Lake! Fabulous photos...lots of goats! Thanks for sharing and coming to the Olympics up.gif
