My power was out from 10 am to 9 pm yesterday due to the windstorm. We walked down at Shilshole and the halyards banging again the sailboat masts sounded like a bunch of mistuned marimbas. ( pardon my assonance....) Any observations??

Windstorm? Took a nap outside in the sunshine yesterday. Sunny today as well. Unfortunately, it looks like window cleaning today instead of a nap. Does look like lots of new snow up in the Cascades.

It sounds like being on the 520 bridge was a little unsettling.

I drove into seattle ( to PFI agree.gif ) via I-90 at 10 am before things really got going. Even so the bridge did give a few good lurches and the wind pushed me around a bit. Unthinking I headed north to the area near Aurora Village power outages made traffic a snarl. But it was fun to see real weather and leaves flying everywhere It smelled like Christmas with fir needles sprinkling all over the place I saw the footage on KING 5 of the side to side sway of 520 when it was closed yikes

We were out on the Columbia, between Chief Joe and Grand Coulee, and it was almost like real whitecaps for a while! eek.gif

Watching the traffic lights swinging in the breeze was a little scary. Is that thing going fall and crush me as I drive through this intersection?

Saturday morning was the worst of it 'round here. Bent the supports for my tarp shelter/redneck garage up pretty good. That thing's been through a lot of windstorms over the years (I've had it about ten years) and it never got damaged like that before. The constant spikes in the power grid caused our emergency generators at work to start multiple times. I was on call that weekend so ended up going in just to make sure that a summary alarm wasn't anything serious and to make sure everything was working okay. Driving across 520 was fun. Going Eastbound no one wanted to be in the right lane so I just turned the wipers on high and went for it. Kind of like driving through a waterfall.

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

The Used Dog and I got caught out in the front that whooshed by. We were on our walk and were just over half way home. I did not see that our part of the world had an advisory when I last checked. I shall be icing my heel. Our speed increased as we heard a roar coming over the ridge to the west of the road, and we got caught in a bad place where there are ratty cottonwoods and alders along the county road. We made it through that. Small limbs were flying by, but no cows. It was a tailwind so it helped us speed wise. As we went by one place, the crack of a tree breaking was heard, but it didn't hit the ground or smash the mobile home. That inspired more speed. We got out of the overhead powerline area--and the line looked lower than normal by our turnoff, maybe that's why a couple of pickups went speeding by? We made it home and the power is still on. Things are back to calm, of course.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities
