Planning a solo coastal hike from Rialto to Cape Alava. Anyone aware of any kind of shuttle service from Ozette back to Rialto?

If you could hitch a ride from Ozette to 101 you should be able to catch Clallam County Transit to Forks and from there to LaPush

Thanks, I'll look into Olympics. The web site looks like they cater to large groups or chartered tours, but you never know.
Hitching to 101 might be more than I'm ready for, but thanks for the research.

The shuttle service (All Points is the actual name) will shuttle individuals. I had contacted the proprietor, Willie Nelson, last year to get info about coastal shuttles. I've also read of other folks who've arranged personal shuttles along the coast with Mr. Nelson. They are not cheap, but factoring in the ferry, gas, and wear and tear costs of a second car and the time required for shuttling that second car makes the cost seem more reasonable.

poorbuthappy, thanks for the offer! I was going in early May, but life happens, and my trip has been postponed until July. The plan is now to hike out from Alava to Ozette on July 18th.
AlpineRose, Thanks again for the info!

Just did this hike in January 2014. You can see pics here. http://www.meetup.com/hiking-235/
Scroll back to January calendar to see pics. FYI - I try and do a coast hike like this every winter and am looking for others to do car exchange. No need or cost for shuttle service with some coordination with others. Keep me in mind for 2015! Happy Trails!

Eppo, Great pics! I'm mainly just a 3 season hiker but you make a great argument for hiking the coast in January. I once tried to spend New Years at Cape Alava but when I got to Clallam Bay, I was told the road was closed due to snow. Have you ever had road problems getting to Alava, Shi Shi or Rialto?

Pacific Crest Outward Bound School in Portland, Oregon used to use the wilderness coast line as a course area in the winter months of October and February. I must have worked near a dozen courses out there for OB in the mid-eighties. I ONLY hike on the coast off-season because I've discovered it's actually a "wilderness" hike in the winter. One guest on my January trip said the weather was better than her last trip in August! In the winter there are virtually no bugs and no other people. No Rangers for sure! If you watch the forecast and go with good weather and tides than you will have a great experience. I've NEVER had any problems with road closures. I imagine if the weather were bad enough than the roads could be problematic.
Generally speaking, I pick the month I'm interested in hiking the coast and consult the tides tables on the ONP website. Once I've identified the proper dates for favorable tides (low tide at mid-day) I just wait and if the weather forecast is good than I go. If the weather forecast is poor I stay home and wait for the next favorable tide window. If you plan a trip out there (in winter) "randomly" based on your vacation time than you will most likely have miserable weather. That's just Murphy's Law!
OB courses were scheduled months in advance and NEVER canceled for weather. We spent some challenging times out there during huge Pacific storms. It was very exciting but I wouldn't recommend it!

As a solo traveler, another way to manage it on the cheap is to ride a bike along 101 between the two trailheads. You can do the bike shuttle either before or after. I prefer to do the shuttle first, so at the end of the hiking, the car is waiting. Raccoons and bears are probably a bigger hazard to a hidden pack than human thieves, but take precautions against both.
