Okay, so this won't be much of a trip report since the trip was made by sea kayak and not by foot. However, I was very much in the heart of the mountains and snapped a handful of photos that I thought others might enjoy.
Sourdough Mountain from Thunder Arm
I was wondering if someone was climbing up there that day. Turns out I was right!

Nice pictures, though! Thanks for sharing them.
Kayak trips are good too!

Cool. Kayaking can be considered water hiking

Those reflection shots are creative and amusing! And the gliding toward Pyramid is surreal.

Beautiful images. Diablo Lake is a gorgeous place to paddle in. Where did you overnight - Buster Brown, Colonial or at one of the paddle-in camps?

I checked out all three boat-in camping areas and chose Buster Brown for its jaw-dropping view of Colonial and Pyramid Peaks. It looked like the place would be a real madhouse in the summer, but I had the camp and the lake pretty much all to myself. And, with Hwy 20 still not fully open, there was very little traffic on Sunday and essentially no traffic on Monday.
I have to say I was a bit hesitant to post these photos here, a hiking site, but I have seen others post aerial photos in the Trip Reports Forum from flight-seeing trips through the Cascades and I felt this was much the same-- a different photographic perspective on an area that we normally just see from the ground. If you're a hiker who also happens to kayak, Ross and Diablo are awesome places to visit.

No quarrel from me!! Keep these beautiful photos coming !
Many of us not only hike but paddle as well.
I love spending time on Diablo, and on Ross (from the Canadian as well as from the US side). Yes there are trails along both lakes, but sometimes a different perspective - by boat - is welcome as well.
