anyone know if they are blooming now? I'd like to hike up Mount Walker which is much nicer when the rhodies are in bloom. Any info appreciated... cool.gif

LB, another good place to see rhodies in the NNE Olympic Peninsula is along the Ned Hill Trail. I'm not sure if they are in full bloom, yet... but I have noticed a lot of rhodies near my house are blooming like crazy during the past week.

60 pounds lighter but not 60 points brighter.

Kruckeberg says those wild rhodies are a major source of all the hybrids we see in our urban landscaping. Jupiter is a nice trip, and in later season, if they're not blooming low, they might be blooming higher up.

I hiked to the nat park boundary up the Duckabush yesterday and saw quite a few.

I climbed up the Mount Walker trail while Lookout Sue drove up and then she hiked down and I drove down and picked her up. Rhodies are o.k but will peak later. Other nice flowers on the trail:blooming Jacobs ladder ( smells great...) star flower, and in one spot lots of calypso orchids. Nice trail gaining 2000 feet in 2 miles.

Saw some rhodies in full bloom at about 1,000 feet yesterday. At 1,800 feet they were only just beginning to bloom.
