In the latest Backpacker Magazine they have an article on the Enchantments starting on page 20. A photo of the girl jumping into a lake is labeled as Snow Lake. The surroundings and elevation look nothing like either of the Snow lakes to me.

Looks like the photo was taken from the north shore of Inspiration Lake.

But they actually had an article worth reading on Anish. It wasn't the usual flip through and into the trash.

I catch mislabeled photos in hiking guidebooks from time to time. Seems like it shouldn't be that hard to get it correct but it happens.

not to mention that she's probably in for an icy surprise if those larches are golden.

Imagine the disappointment after seeing the pic then making that 4k+ slog up to Snow Lakes.

It is indeed somewhat underwhelming (Snow Lakes) when in reality you could have hiked the 3 1/2 miles or whatever it is up to Snow Lake off I-90 and pretty much had as good of scenery IMHO. A lot more bang for the buck.
Now if you are using Snow Lakes as a jumping off point for the real Enchantments...

Snow Lake is merely a feature to hike or jog around on the exit from the Chants

The dam and the pipe are a sight to behold though.

This thread reminds me of something Harvey Manning mentioned in 100 Hikes in Washington (at least I think that's where I read it). Something to the effect that a photo of Mt. Shuksan was in a travel brochure for the Alps.

I saw a t-shirt in a gift shop in Rocky Mountain NP in Colorado that was very clearly the silhouette of Mt. Shuksan.

I've also seen a San Francisco T-shirt that clearly had the Grand Tetons as a background for the city. Must have been really good visibility that day.
And a more rare mid-identification, since photos of the Pickets don't show up as often: Some one gave me a "Mountain Climbing 2013 calendar" that has a very clear photo of the Pickets both as its cover photo and September photo. I can even identify almost exactly where the photo had to be taken, on the ridge between Luna & Fury with Inspiration, Pyramid, Degenhardt, and Terror very clear in the background. The caption repeated with both copies of the photo: "Annapurna, in central Nepal, is said to be the world's most dangerous mountain to climbers."
