My buddy made the mistake last year of saying he always wanted to ride the STP. I made him sign up, and despite being a little uptight about it he finally figured out he could do it on the last day. This year (at age 67) he was much more relaxed about the whole thing; I wanted to capture the ride for him so I mounted a Contour Roam2 to my front fork (I used 960 Tall setting as it gives the best overall view) and shot some of the experience, slicing the 2 day ride into 12.5 minutes.

congratulations to you and your biking buddy chickenleg.gif rockband.gif twirl.gif horsey.gif i love it! brought back memories of my 2013 STP ride up.gif there's a metal grate on the longview bridge that caught my back wheel and i ended off my seat but landed with both feet on the bridge. i was so happy that i was not clipped on, otherwise, i would have bit it big time! i was so scared yet happy that i got off unscathed from being jerked off my bike. if you remember on the video, you went over that grate with a big thud! thanks for sharing your adventure!

The one that almost got me was the metal water bottle...I managed to go over it right in the middle, if I had clipped one side or the other I hate to think.....

Not really. At least if you keep the tension light in my experience your feet pretty much just come out of the pedals if anything like that happens. Now if you are using old fashion toe clips/straps, all bets are off.

was the debris on the bridge just not swept up in advance or was it thrown down by drivers angered at having to wait? Congrats on your finish. I thought of everyone slugging it out on Saturday in that heat. And there is nothing better , with more restorative power, than a chocolate banana milkshake

Biker's debris; mostly water bottles that fell off bikes, probably from the jolting going over some of the expansion joints.

Two threads with STP in the title, and I thought Stone Temple Pilots must have a new album. frown.gif
