The second weekend of July is no doubt the Biggest weekend out here right before the earth drops off biggrin.gif . Two small communities celebrating "Fun Days". One of the highlights is the fireworks show on Saturday evening. Last nights' show had a different perspective with the fog rolling which gave fireworks a whole different look. Having fun with my new camera. Enjoy!

Awesome photos! Almost seems like you were in a plane looking down on them.

I think that is the fog affect. As the fourth photo shows I am on the beach. I have to admit that at first I was a bit bummed about seeing the fog rolling in but as I looked at my photos I thought it gave the fireworks show a totally different dimension. It was a very fun evening!!

Great photos half fast! The wife and I were going to come over this year from Forks but saw the fog along the coast and the Straits and decided not to make the drive. After seeing your pictures I wish we wouldn't have changed our minds! Next year I guess.................

Thank you tinman... Looking at the fog out my windows when it was time to head into town, I almost didn't go as well but decided that I might as well. It is THE weekend out here right before the earth drops off embarassedlaugh.gif biggrin.gif . (PM me if you are ever headed over to this side.)

Nice pics, love the fog effect. What settings were you using? Tripod?

I have not figured out the setting thing on my new camera yet. I was using my 35mm lens and had the camera on the auto setting "night landscape". No I do not have a tripod yet either and was holding the camera. Yes I know a tripod might have been better but we do what we can with what we have... LOL There were a few photos where I obviously got excited when I took the photo but all in all I am happy with the results (I am still learning this camera and it is quite a bit heavier than my last). I took 50 photos and deleted 5 right away. As I was going through the rest carefully, I deleted another 5. Of the rest of the photos, I liked the 5 I posted the best and of those photos... these two are my all time favorites of the night...

Well, "Night Landscape" *is* a setting. wink.gif Just don't know how it translates to aperture and shutter speed but my guess is that it uses the largest aperture and a shutter speed somewhere between .5 and 2 seconds just judging from the amount of propogation of those fireworks you were able to capture and the hand-shake movement in the camera in that second picture (the little squiggles in the purple bursts are dead giveaways). I highly encourage you to learn about the relationship between iso, aperture and shutter speed - all the automatic settings on your camera are merely changing those three things to some pre-programmed combination that might not always be what you want.

Yes, I totally agree with you. Life has been too busy lately and I have not had or made the time to learn that but, I will. From the clarity of your photo I also need to get a tripod soon as well.
