Just curious - Elof Norman was the author of "The Coffee Chased Us Up," an account of living at Monte Cristo near the turn of the century. He eventually moved to Everett and ran a tavern/bar there.
I just picked up a signed copy of his book on e-bay. Cool!

In 1977 I went on a backpacking trip out of Monte Christo (You could still drive there then). An elderly man was sitting at a card table selling books - Elof Norman and "The Coffee Chased Us Up". I bought one of his books and had a nice little chat with him. He graciously let me take his picture:

But turned out to be Gabby Hayes instead.
Been a while sense I visited the Granite Museum so I did it this weekend. Now my mind is working again on some info I was doing some time ago on Elof. There web page is up dated.
Just listened to both interviews with him I think they should have done at least 1 more.
